The fall of Saigon and the plight of its boat people may not sound like the stuff of a stand-up comedy routine, but for Hung Le, a lot of funny things happened on the way to Australia. Hung is a violinist turned comedian who first made his mark in 1987 as the winner of Hey Hey Its Saturday's Red Faces (Australia's top rating national variety show). Since then, he has appeared at numerous comedy festivals and venues both here and overseas. The Vietnamese-born performer, now based in Melbourne, toured in the ethnic laugh spectacular Wog-a-Rama and featured in the ABC documentary 'What's so Funny?'about comedy, ethnicity and political correctness.

His first book 'The Yellow Peril From Sin City' was released through Penguin. Hung has also contributed to two Penguin anthologies - 'Hot Type' and 'More Hot Sand'.

Hung performed his first solo show 'Now and Zen' as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 1997, and toured this show to Sydney, Edinburgh, Hong Kong, New York, and Adelaide Fringe Festivals. His second show 'Noodle Frontity' has played to full houses at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and Edinburgh Fringe and Adelaide Fringe.

Hung has just returned from his first foray into the US market, performing at the Boston Comedy Club in New York, and headlining at the Hollywood Improv in L.A.In April last year Hung premiered his latest show 'Phat As!!' at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. This year he premiered a new show 'Black and Tran' in collaboration with the highly talented Aboriginal actress and comedienne, Ningali Lawford. 'Black and Tran' was also a sellout show for Hung and for Ningali

He is currently in development on a four part documentary series in which Hung returns to Vietnam to examine his response to the country he left behind in 1975.
