Rodney Marks

Rodney is Australia's (mis)leading corporate comedian. He is a comic hoaxer, a corporate impostor, a comic in a business suit. His comedy satirises management language, usually in the form of fake keynote speeches at business events. Rodney also performs as a comedy MC, and has been a regular on the stand-up comedy circuit for the past generation.

Rodney's comic hoaxes involve him in taking on the role and language of an expert.

The aim is to gently fool audiences into believing that they are listening to a genuine guru. He has created hundreds of characters from a visiting professor to a corporate executive lawyer, scientist, bureaucrat, psychiatrist, politician and many other very important people.

Seminar length comedy performances and spot (breakfast, lunch and dinner) sessions can be presented. He is also an accomplished and funny Master of Ceremonies.

He has delivered presentations to commerce, industry, government, associations and the non-profit sector.

Rodney has been marketing director of the Sydney Dance Company, General Manager of Canberra Opera and the Spoletto Melbourne Festival (now the Melbourne International Arts Festival), and a department head at the Western Australian Academy of Performance Arts. He has also been an arts management consultant to the Australian Council, The Australian Opera, the Powerhouse Museum and the Ensemble Theatre.

Rodney holds a degree in theatre from the University of New England, an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management at the University of New South Wales, and a Master's in Public Administration from Harvard University.

He is well qualified to create Hoaxes and make Jokeses.

Along with many of his clients, Rodney finds that the best material comes out of the normal circumstances of every day life at work.
